What’s the best time of year to visit BESIDE Habitat?
Each season at BESIDE Habitat offers something unique — it all depends on what you're looking for. In the fall, the forest lights up with colour, making it the perfect season for mushroom foraging or simply enjoying the fresh air on a hike. Winter is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts: snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, cozy evenings by the fire, and that special quiet only a snowy forest can bring. Spring is calm and peaceful. It's a great time to recharge, work remotely in nature, or slowly emerge from the winter blues. Summer is made for swimming, long days outside, cooking over a fire, and spontaneous adventures.
How do I book a stay at a BESIDE destination?
All reservations are made through our secure external platform, Guesty. When you click “Book your stay” on our site, you’ll be redirected there — that’s completely normal!

What is the best time of the year to go to LAO Cantons-de-l'Est?
The simple answer: all year round. Each season has its charm in LAO and the experience changes completely over the months.

In spring, it is the return of nature. The temperatures are getting milder, the days are getting longer, and it is an ideal time to enjoy the peace, observe the awakening of the forest and go hiking in a peaceful atmosphere.

In summer, you can fully enjoy the outdoors. It's the perfect season for hiking, swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, evening bonfires, patio dining, and long days in nature. The atmosphere is lively, bright and relaxing.

In the fall, the landscapes become spectacular with the colors. It is a particularly popular time to admire the flamboyant forests, take long walks, savor the fresh air and enjoy a cocooning stay in an incredible setting.

In winter, the experience becomes magical. The snow transforms the site into a true Nordic refuge, perfect for relaxing. It is the perfect time to enjoy the calm, the comfort of the cabin, the snowy landscapes, and depending on the conditions, winter activities such as walking or snowshoeing, cross-country skiing or simply a spa and sauna session.
Why have some chalets changed their names?
As part of the evolution of the LAO brand, some chalets have been renamed in order to better reflect the current identity of the site and its anchoring in the territory. This is only a change of name: the chalets, their location and their experience remain the same. Here are the connections between the old and the new names:

— Blök has spice → Wild canopy
— Blök has some bite → Leafy canopy
— Blök with panache → Boreal canopy
— Top View → Wooded Ridge
— View of the lake → Celestial crest
— Night light → Misty sky
— Wild Lüv → Veiled peak
— Sweet luv → Soft top
— Labsölü → Foam

The Coteau, L'Orée and Camp de Base models keep their current names.

Note that for the Canopée and Crête mini-chalets, wood for the indoor fires is free between Thanksgiving and Patriots' Day.
Are there BBQs in the cabins?
At LAO, rather than cooking on BBQs, we suggest that you cook directly on the fire. Our outdoor fireplaces are equipped with grills.
